  This sort of David v Goliath litigation is typical of the lengths WT will go to pursue the "little" man. Kevin Mcfree provided lighthearted harmless (sometimes somewhat barbed" entertainment to a limited audience. WT have sued Facebook and Youtube in an attempt to uncover Mcfree's real identity.

  The lack of love, the sheer merciless pursuit of anyone who has the courage to be a nay-sayer makes me sad. It makes me ashamed to have ever supported this bullying organization.

  Why haven't they re-started the 'cart witnessing'?

  we are nearly 18 months into this pandemic and lot has been learned and our behaviour modified to make things safer for us, e.g.

  the wearing of face masks and social distancing.. many countries such as australia, new zealand, the uk and usa either have things under control or have vaccinated a large portion of the population.

  therefore, given the very passive nature of the 'cart witnessing', i can't see why this hasn't be re-started.

  This strict lockdown has to be seen to be believed. In the last week I was on a Zoom meeting attended by a Bethel member who had not been out doors for a year. He had a close family member die of covid and yet is still under house arrest.

  There is another small Bethel outpost with 8 incumbents. One of them has cancer and has to leave for treatment. Every time they are required to isolate for 14 days after each expedition. This effectively means permanently living in their bedroom without even the freedom to be in the rest of the building.

  yesterday, while having a smoke outside my house, i saw the google street view car drive by.

  so here i am, wondering when this picture will make it to the web and when a jw sees it.

  even if they blur the face, i bet it will be really easy to make out who's smokin' outside.

  'Victims of abuse Jehovah's Witnesses fear witch hunt'

  The Jehovah's Witnesses are making every effort to obtain interview reports from people who cooperated in an investigation of abuse. Victims fear that their identity could be traced by the religious organization, Trouw reports.

  In the study, researchers from Utrecht University held discussions with victims and other stakeholders about the way in which the Jehovah's Witnesses handled incidents of abuse internally.

  Last year's investigation showed that victims are very negative about the treatment of their complaint. Three quarters of the reporters give an unsatisfactory mark, the most frequently given mark is even 1.

  Tried internally

  The investigation was conducted in response to reports of sexual abuse within the church. Hundreds of reports were received at the reporting center that was set up.

  The organization, with 30,000 members in the Netherlands, does not report perpetrators of sexual abuse to the police. They are tried internally, in so-called judicial committees. Records are made and kept of those internal court cases and of perpetrators' conversations with elders.

  750 people participated in the research of Utrecht University. 300 of them said they themselves had been abused.

  The Jehovah's Witnesses are now attempting to request material from the investigation through various procedures. At ministries, but also at the university.

  Witch hunt

  When the information is released, the participants fear a witch hunt. Kees van den Bos, leader of the research, says in Trouw that 'protecting research participants is a top priority'.

  "This is very sensitive matter that can also be traceable anonymously, because it is a small community. For example, people have said in their own words what happened to them and by connecting answers you quickly suspect who it is. We must avoid the possibility of a witch hunt. "

  A spokesman for the Jehovah's Witnesses says in a response to Trouw that their request focuses on anonymous documents. "With full respect for everyone's privacy and in accordance with the GDPR.

  I think there is something cowardly, yellow-bellied about the covid stance of the WT hierarchy. All full time (paid) people are severely locked down. There is no accessing or leaving bethels etc. COs are banned from any contact no matter local rules. The GB will be absolutely insulated from any risk of infection in their ivory towers.

  The rest of the flock, the r&f however are expected to work, thus incurring some level of risk, contribute, in order to allow for this protection of the hierarchy and (crocodile tears) die in numbers, as an inevitable consequence of their higher risk of infection.

  Don't however come near our KHs with your nasty germs, we don't want them and we don't want our good name associated with any local outbreak.

  The consequence of this is that only the the scientific work, the sacrifice and personal risk of others will stem the world wide problem. Don't look to WT for any help. Don't even clap for the carers.

  so, in the uk, during the early stages of covid there was a groundswell of appreciation for the nhs for their front-line sacrifice.

  this was crystallised into a regular clapping/whistling/noise making session every thursday at 8pm.. "harmless" you would have thought, "a gesture of appreciation", "what could possibly be wrong with joining in on that innocent activity?".

  well, the co during his recent rounds had a different view.

  Agreed, the biggie is making it into a matter of religious right and wrong, judging others about it.
